I had half an hour to kill whilst waiting for a watch battery to be replaced so figured I'd come here and read the papers - which is exactly what I did.
| Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | | In good condition. Slightly rich, tangy, nutty-nettle hopped bear. Nice |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
24 May 2009 (Ian)
Mini beer fest going on with around 10 barrels set up to serve beer on gravity. No 4 on the crawl
| Whitstable Brewing Company - Kentish Reserve | 5.00 | | Malty and syrupy strong bitter. |
| Whitstable Brewing Company - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried | |

Pretty busy Saturday lunchtime. Football on the TV and lots of people eating to the left of the bar.
| Whitstable Brewing Company - Kentish Reserve | 5.00 | | Clear mid brown with constant foam head. Slight sweaty hop aroma. Good hit of fruit in the body and clear dry finish. Really very good and not a noticeably strong ale. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
01 Apr 2009 (Ian)
I sat and watched the Sky News from the G20 protests and wondered where the world had gone so wrong from both sides of the fence
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 5 | 4.40 | | My favourite Gadd's beer. Brilliant in the fruit the malt and the hop bitterness. |
27 Feb 2009 (Ian)
I sat and watched West Indies vs England in the cricket as Ravi Bopara got thumped in the head by a ball from Fidel Edwards.
| Whitstable Brewing Company - Winkle Picker | 4.50 | | Amber colour, lasting beige head. It’s a slightly cereally best bitter, some fruit on finish. It’s quite pleasant. A decent bitter. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander | 4.10 | Not Tried | |

Very quiet. I sat by the main bar and watched huddled groups of cold people walk by.
| Hopdaemon - Leviathan | 6.00 | | Good condition to it. The initial flavour was just like at the beer festival; reedy. However that passed quickly and the beer was then dominated by coffee-grounds. Where's the red fruit gone? |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried | Came on just as I left |

2nd pub on our mini-crawl. Fairly empty. The blokes at the bar infront of us seemed to be having Peroni lager shandys. I like this pub but when it's not too busy it does feel a bit like a railway waiting room.
| Hopdaemon - Dominator | 5.10 | | Really nice to see this on. Mahogony brown-red colour. Rich, smooth, strong, reedy, creamy beer with strawberry hints. Like Ian and Brian have said before me, it's not how it used to be. Still good though. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried | |

I can never decide whether I like this place or not. Been twice in 4 days and I still can't decide. Nice place to sit and chat ,which Andrew and I did, over a pint of Dominator, about the world economy and house prices.
| Hopdaemon - Dominator | 5.10 | | Good ESB style beer. |
17 Dec 2008 (Ian)
I came here to write my Christmas cards. Decent line up, and the office pre-party rabble left after a bit so it was quite nice sat here writing and drinking.
| Hopdaemon - Dominator | 5.10 | | Enormously drinkable, but lacked that lovely grapefruity lime hoppy bite of last year. Good though. Just poured down. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - Little Cracker | 5.00 | | The more Gadd's I drink, the more I like it. |
| Otter - Bright | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
11 Dec 2008 (Brian)
Only three ales on, but if you were to have 3 beers on in December it would be a job to beat these. Atmosphere was sophistictated as usual and a change from the Bell and the Beckett. There was a bloke in a suit writing out his Xmas cards.
| Hopdaemon - Dominator | 5.10 | | Weird this, very nice but not how I remembered it. This was roasted malt, chocolatey mouth and lacked any significant bite. Still fine, but I remember this being exceptional at the Yew Tree. |
| Otter - Bright | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | Not Tried | |

Popped in for a swift half at lunchtime. The bar area was faily emtpy so I sat on a stool and read the free papers. Even though this feels more like a bar than a pub I like it - especially as the beers good and they usually have on Kent Micros.
| Otter - Bright | 4.30 | | I liked this and it was in really good condition. It was a rich golden colour with a hint of lemon curd in the aroma. The body was rich with hints of lemon curd and wheat. The finish had a mellow leafy hop bite to it. I can't imagine doing a session on it (due to its syrupy body) but its a nice beer. |
| Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70 | Not Tried | I miss read the pump clip and thought this was Skrim otherwise I may well have had it instead of the Otter. |
24 Aug 2008 (Ian)
Football was on and very popular in the rooms with TVs so Brian and I sat on a sofa. Decent beer line up and the barman was saying that they are trying to always have a guest on as well as regular Kentish beers.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - Storm Warning | 5.00 | | I really like this beer. Good deep malts, nice balance, and easy drinking for 5% |
| Otter - Bright | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
15 Aug 2008 (Brian)
Almost empty in the bar area, but plenty of people eating to the area on the right of the bar. I think it was Portishead that they were playing over the sound system.
| Otter - Bright | 4.30 | | Hazy golden colour, creamy head. Aroma of tinned peaches or pears and a little citrus. Taste was pear drops and banana, nice if a little sweet. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 3 | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
13 Aug 2008 (Andrew)
We didn't have time to pop-in but I peered in the window at the bar to see what was on.
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Otter - Bright | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
23 Feb 2008 (Andrew)
Last pub on Ian and my mini-crawl of Canterbury. It was very busy but we got a seat in a side room and watched the first 10 minutes of England vs France.
| Whitstable Brewing Company - East India Pale Ale | 4.20 | | Fresh and in good condition. Hoppy with a flowery bite |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | Went off as I ordered it |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | Badged as Brewery Tavern house beer |
23 Feb 2008 (Ian)
It's so odd that we come here, because we just aren't in the target audience. France vs England rugby was entertaining though.
| Whitstable Brewing Company - East India Pale Ale | 4.20 | | Better than Bell & Crown, but still better when it was hoppier. Oh for the days of Swale Indian Summer..... |
20 May 2007 (Ian)
Late Sunday PM. Pretty empty. Starting to lose that new smell. Discussed Kent's win with a couple of other people.
| Sharps - Doom Bar | 4.00 | | Strange to have a non Kent beer on, until I read on Ratebeer that Sharps are offering a buy one kilderkin get one free deal. Some caramel. I still find it a rather drinkable best bitter. Bit sweet in mouth maybe, but very good bitter finish. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | Badged as Old Brewery Bitter. |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
27 Dec 2006 (Andrew)
Last stop on my tour with Ian. Busy as always but we still got a seat in the snug. One of the pump clips was turned round but it was clearly a Gadd's clip. This is a good pub.
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Bit cold but still excellent. Lots of watery strawberry and rich watery malt. Subtle hops. |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | Badged as 'Tavern Ale' |
27 Dec 2006 (Ian)
Looking at the rest of the clienele, I do get the feeling that me and Andrew are not the target audience for this pub/bistro, but whilst they continue to serve Kent micro beers in good condition, I'll keep coming back, even if I don't gel my hair.
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | I thought that it was a tad cold, and could have been fuller in the malts, but undoubtedly my best beer of the evening. |
19 Nov 2006 (Andrew)
Everytime I walk past this place I realise it's bigger than I thought. Anyway, I had half an hour to kill so I popped in to see if they still had local beers on. They did. Jolly good.
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander | 4.10 | | Even though this was the last coughings from the barrel it was good. Much more malt in the flavour than usual and the hops were much more earthy and brown leafy but I put all this down to it being bottom of the barrel. |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | |

Created as part of the refit of the County Hotel on the High Street. This pub/bistro has multiple rooms with a couple of quieter rooms. A real fire accompanies some sofas plus there is space to eat and a covered patio area. Pushes local produce (line caught Hythe sea bass was the fish of the day). Still smells a bit new, some paint aroma. but a very cool bistro. Will do well. Four handpumps, only 2 in use.
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander | 4.10 | | One of the nicest pints of Skrimshander that I've had in ages. Lovely red fruit malts/rich. But with balancing earthy hop. Classy |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 7 | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
22 Oct 2006 (Andrew)
I walked pasted this and when, 'ooh, new bar'. I then spotted a sign saying they served local food and local ale so I went in to see if this was true for the Ale. It was. Well done. Apparently it's only been open 3 weeks.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Tight husky bitterness with a heathery bite. |
| Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried | |
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
