Lunchtime, interesting pub but only Spitfire on tap. Memorabilia very good and an explanation of the name on the outside wall. A Hoy was a small sloop rigged sailing ship, used to take people and supplies across to larger vessels moored off shore in the area known as The Downs.

Fairly quiet, we had a good chat with the landlord about beers.

I've been recommended this pub several times, so even though it is a Shep's pub, I thought I'd try it out. Down a quiet pretty side street. Central bar with 4 handpumps serving a single room Stripped wood floorboards, lots of local art on walls. Today's newspapers to read. Large decked area with plants for good weather and smokers. Has a civilised feel to it.

Very toffeeish. Looks good, plenty of lacing. Some hop on end, not much, a low key bitter. It's fine, just nothing really makes it stand out.

Lunch time session and it had a good few locals in. Friendly and relaxed.
