Only my second visit and time to explore and photograph the many other rooms and bars I didn't know existed in this TARDIS of a pub. Quiet in the entrance bar but as I found out many more folk in attendance elsewhere.

About 2pm and about half a dozen people in the main bar, and a fair number in the other side. I reminisced about my first visit here in the mid 1970s when Ma Pardoe was serving behind the bar and having difficulty with the new money.

I tried this because it was advertised as being a joint third at the GBBF. It deserved its prize.

A must for all real ale supporters. Busy with tourists and locals enjoying value for money beers and food.

To me, a typical black country beer. Fabulous, sweetish malt and lightly hopped.
Olde Swan - Light Mild (aka Original)

Wonderfully light session ale. £2.10p per pint - great value for money.
Olde Swan - Pardoe's Alchemist
4.90
Best of the night for me. Similar flavours to other Olde Swan beers but here the flavours were more intense and the strength was beginning to poke its head through.

The pub is found in Netherton, West Midlands, DY2 9PY.
An iconic, Victorian, high street, Black Country pub in Halesowen Road. Before the real ale revival, this was one of only four home brew pubs left in the country. A typically drab Victorian frontage leads you into a wealth of ornate, 19th century splendour. CAMRA listed for its historical interior. Known by many still as Ma Pardoe's.
We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 5 of them.
