Lunchtime and crazily over-full with office workers in paper crowns. I almost give up trying to buy a pint and then, all together, they are gone.

Early evening and not busy. Four cask ales available, but all are standard Bitters. There's room for more variety on the bar.

I join an East London & City CAMRA pubcrawl at this busy pub. We are a small group tonight, with just five members gathering here.

Busy evening session and a bit too chilly to sit outside. Much nautical talk at the tables around us. Nice to see that the pub has a good quality new pubsign.

Mid-afternoon on a Sunday and it is very pleasant in here. The last few roast dinners are being served, the riverside platform is bustling, and some nice background music is playing inside.

Evening visit. Very expensive and not the pub it was when it sold Charrington IPA and had a more local rather than touristy feel.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10GoodLost its edge as the pint went down the glass and became rather apple tasting. £4.90 for a pint and a bag of salted peanuts

Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70Not Tried

Not over-crowded here on a Friday evening, and there was an unexpected opportunity to grab a table on the riverside platform.

I really like Wapping, it doesn't have all that much to choose from in regards to pubs but this is one of the better ones.

The pub is found in Wapping, Greater London, E1W 2PN.

Traditional pub in Wapping High Street, next to the Wapping Stairs, it has a lovely terrace overlooking the Thames. The claimed foundation date for this pub is 1545. It is said to have been the pub called the Red Cow where Judge Jeffries was apprehended in 1688 whilst trying to flee to France in disguise (although it should be noted that there was also another pub called the Red Cow nearby). By 1750 it was one of 35 pubs in Wapping High Street – now the only survivor, although it has been joined by a modern pub. Formerly a Hoare’s and then a Charrington’s house, the pub notes local tradition by retaining a hangman’s noose beside the riverside decking.

We have visited this pub 8 times, seen 9 different beers and tried 4 of them.
