After walking past a variety of pubs in various states ranging from closed but the lights on to uninspiring beer ranges I came upon the Swan. Nice pub. A good quality pub debate about cricket gambling was going on. Sat in a corner and watched some rich wallys on the tv wacking a small ball into sand pits.

Good friendly drinkers pub this. It was busy inside with all the tables taken so I sat on a bar stool by the darts board and read a Whitbread poster showing all the breweries they'd gobbled up.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Cumberland Ale4.00GoodSandy brown coloured beer. The taste was light and mellow with a slightly pronounced hop finish. This reminded me of the beers of my youth; inoffensive best bitters.

Early afternoon and it was very busy with both the small front garden and the inside virtually full. It was a bit smokey inside so we sat by ourselves in the rear garden. Seemed like a good local.
