It was a relief to arrive here after two very disappointing warm-up pubs. Busy on a Monday evening, with many outside despite the drizzle. Notably good service. Atmosphere throughout London is a bit flat today, post-Olympic Blues I guess.
BeerABVScoreNotes
XT Brewing - No. 8 Dark Roast4.50ExcellentDark and dry, with ‘Bourneville’ chocolate and roasted barley flavours. Bitter finish.
Itchen Valley - Calypso4.10AcceptableWell-meaning beer that, for me, fails to pull it off. Sweetish malt and bitter hops that jar a bit.

The re-opening of Blackfriars station has refreshed this pub’s role as a railway waiting room. Always worth coming in anyway to admire the fabulous decor.

A bit of an odd place really. Felt like a german beer hall. The girl behind the bar wasn't the friendliest. Alright but I probably won't be back, better places in London.

We'd been looking for the Castle on Chancery Lane but couldn't find it so came here instead. Nice pub quite near the river. We only had time for a half here as Borough Market was calling.
