IanPoor17 Apr 2009 On the turn towards vinegar. Would have made a pretty good wild fermented mild mind.
AndrewNot Tried17 Apr 2009
IanGood04 Sep 2008 Very choccy, good condition. Very drinkable.
IanNot Tried23 Jun 2008
IanNot Tried01 Sep 2007 Had a sip of Andrew's and it was a bit dull.
AndrewAcceptable01 Sep 2007 Lots of rich sweet malt and a hint of chocolate and coffee. Nothing wrong with it but I've had much better
IanAcceptable28 Jun 2007 Phil didn't like it, thought it lacked condition, but I finished it for him and thought it was fine. Quite a bit of coffee.
IanNot Tried19 May 2007 Only had a sip of Andrew's but far too caramelly for me and I thought a little bit of diacetyl
AndrewGood19 May 2007 Funny one as lots of caramel and some butteryness but it still had that coffee mild flavour you'd expect.
IanNot Tried09 Dec 2006
IanNot Tried08 Apr 2006
AndrewExcellent08 Apr 2006 Intense coffee flavours with a slight tart bitterness. If this had had some chocolate in it that I know it can do then it would have been perfect. As it was it was merely brillant.
IanExcellent02 Nov 2005 Just watching it being poored and then settling with a thick creamy ivory coloured head made me salivate. Good mild with plenty of hop and roasted malts.
AndrewAcceptable12 Aug 2005 Quiet hoppy with nice burnt malt but slightly acidic too.
IanNot Tried12 Aug 2005
IanAcceptable19 Mar 2005 Not at its best, but then I had the last half before the barrel was changed, so not a fair representation
AndrewExceptional09 Apr 2004 ah-ha, they changed the barrel!

IanGood27 Oct 2007 Very chocolatety
IanAcceptable23 Jun 2007 Bit flat and not perfect. Some roasted malt. Ruby mild. Not great condition.
AndrewGood23 Jun 2007 Sweet coffee mild. Bitter sweet finish
IanNot Tried28 May 2007
IanGood14 Apr 2007 Little bit earthy/muddy. Very chocolatey. Finish has great length. Dry charcoal and coffee granules. Better than the Light so gets 3.5/5
IanNot Tried14 Jan 2007
IanAcceptable23 Dec 2006 Just slightly thin and watery, but got good roasted malts and choc/coffee
IanAcceptable16 Sep 2006 Slightly acidic. Soft choc/coffee in mouth. It's alright, but doesn't hit the heights.
AndrewNot Tried31 Jul 2006 Had a sip of Cam's and it was smoaky heaven
IanExcellent11 Jul 2006 Two excellent dark milds in one evening. Had the first pint as this came on and the Elgood's went off. Typical Goacher's mild flavours of dark malts, roasty, toastiness and a hoppy finish. Nice
IanNot Tried24 Jun 2006
IanNot Tried16 Jun 2006
IanExcellent28 May 2006 Ruby colour with beige head. The coffee and choc on this are so good, it makes you want to weep. Velvet in mouth, with a little hop sharpness on the end. Smellsof drinking chocolate. Fantastic
AndrewExcellent09 Apr 2006 Good burnt coffee with a bitter finish
IanNot Tried23 Dec 2005
AndrewGood23 Dec 2005 Nice subtle burnt malt flavours with a hint of chocolate
IanNot Tried25 Jun 2005
MartinGood18 Jun 2005 Very very drinkable and quite nutty today but the crown has been stolen (fittingly) by Crown Imperial Stout.
IanExcellent17 Jun 2005 Dark ruby colour, burnt malt with coffee and chocolate balanced in mouth with some hops to give a drying finish. Lots of flavour for a mild and a beer this light in alcohol
AndrewExceptional17 Jun 2005 Wow. Tasted of burnt coffee with a slighly sweet undertone. If you could get better than this I'd want to hear about it
IanNot Tried25 May 2005
AndrewAcceptable07 May 2005 A bit thin but then it's my own fault because the landlord told me it wasn't ready yet but because I begged him for a pint of it he gave in (what a great bloke he is).
AndrewExcellent19 Feb 2005 Chocolate and burnt malt were the most noticable characteristics
IanExceptional19 Feb 2005 The flavours of chocolate and malt are quite distinctive in this dark mild
IanExceptional22 Jan 2005 Great malty hoppy flavour. Superb mild
IanExcellent11 Dec 2004 Very chocolatey taste. Amazing amount of flavour for a 3.4%
IanAcceptable20 Nov 2004 Not at its best, a bit like the Light on this occasion
AndrewAcceptable14 Aug 2004 Bit bitter but drinkable

AndrewExcellent17 Aug 2010 Really good milky mild coffee beer.
Martin the MildmanExcellent22 Jul 2010 Dark and slightly smokey with a good malty flavour and low hoppiness. My score 16/20.
AndrewExcellent08 Jun 2009 Excellent condition. Milky with coffee and hints of chocolate.
IanNot Tried12 Jan 2008 The sip of Andrew's was very chocolatey.
AndrewExcellent12 Jan 2008 Coffee and chocolate with hints of semolina. Very good.
AndrewExcellent29 Dec 2007 Fresh with coffee and roasted malt with that Goacher's tell-tale hop finish.
AndrewExceptional31 Dec 2006 Lots of creamy coffee with an undertone of milk chocolate. Wish I could have drunk more.
AndrewExceptional01 Aug 2006 Smoaky flavours dominated making it reminiscent of Goacher's Crown Imperial Stout. Slight hint of chocolate and coffee too.
IanExceptional29 Aug 2005 Dark ruby colour. Perfect easy drinking mile with lots of chocolate and toffee and burnt malt grainy finish. Excellent for this style of beer
AndrewNot Tried16 May 2005
AndrewExcellent14 May 2005 Good chocolate and malt taste but a bit watery

AndrewGood22 Jul 2010 Good condition and quite lively. Good coffee notes but no chocolate and quite low on the hopping for his Mild.
AndrewGood02 May 2009 Good condition but a bit thin in the mouth. Plenty of coffee and hints of chocolate but needed a bit more body.

AndrewExcellent03 Mar 2007 Fresh with bitter coffee and hints of cocoa powder.
AndrewGood21 Jan 2006 Good bitter bite to it with a clean peaty coffee taste with a burnt coffee finish. Judging by the angle of the barrel on the stillage this had only been tapped recently. Give it a day or 2 and it will be perfect.
IanNot Tried29 Aug 2005
AndrewGood26 Aug 2005 Another interesting beer. Sweet and sharp to start with followed by burnt malt on the finish. What I imagine a classic mild to taste like. Not what I would have expected from my favourite beer but good none the less
IanExcellent09 Apr 2005 Very dark ruby colour. Good malt, some burnt caramel/coffee, some dry hops on end. Excellent flavoursome mild
AndrewExcellent09 Apr 2005 My guess this was from a fresh barrel so it hadn't got that chocolate taste yet. Still a good 'un though

BrianGood26 Jul 2008 Love the smell of this. Smokey, roast malts, milky texture in the mouth. Really good mild.
AndrewExcellent14 Jul 2007 The first pint was quite sharp so they pulled off some more beer. The new pint was excellent. Full bodied with a smooth feel in the mouth. Roasted malt and coffee dominated. Sank 2 in half an hour
AndrewAcceptable13 Jan 2007 Underlying coffee flavours but an ever-so slightly vinegary finish.
AndrewAcceptable07 Oct 2006 Quite lively which gave it a sharpness like grapefruit. Some burnt notes but the sharpness overpowers.
AndrewNot Tried01 Jul 2006 Went off as I was there
AndrewExceptional24 Jun 2006 Bitter black coffee flavours with a smooth slightly creamy undertaste. Great
BrianNot Tried14 Jun 2006 Rob (the barman) said it was almost finished.
AndrewExcellent04 Jun 2006 Smelt of mild coffee. Lively when poured so I guess it's only been tapped recently. Coffee flavours dominate. I'd love to have this in a day or 2 when it would have developed a bit of chocolate and would be absolutely fantastic. Goacher's Mild hey? Always a winner!
BrianNot Tried10 Sep 2005
AndrewAcceptable04 Sep 2005 Last pint from the barrel. Lacked the bite a fresher pint would have had but there was nothing wrong with it.
AndrewExcellent27 Aug 2005 A sweet hoppy start followed by subtle burnt malt on the finish.
AndrewGood20 Aug 2005 Lots of burnt malt and some hops. Perhaps getting a little tired but still good
BrianExcellent13 Aug 2005 Not normally a mild drinker, but this was great, it tasted just like Andrew said last week.
AndrewExcellent08 Aug 2005 Very hoppy with a good burnt malt flavour. This was dark mild at its best. I wish I hadn't been driving or I could have had more than a half!

BlairExcellent07 Jun 2008 Really good mild, dark with plenty of oats and malt.

WhoScoreWhenNotes
AndrewExcellent19 Apr 2008 Plenty of coffee with hints of cream. Excellent pint that stayed good to the end.
TrevorExcellent05 Apr 2008 A smooth ale which went down well - dark but not too heavy.
AndrewGood02 Mar 2008 The top of the pint was a bit sharp (so would have scored an 'okay') but the bottom was coffee, milk and a hint of chocolate (and would have scored excellent).
IanGood13 Oct 2007 Excellent mild, not much hop, very mild and a good charcoaly aroma. Good roasted malt flavour with fullness in mouth.
AndrewExcellent13 Oct 2007 The first pint was off so they changed the barrel. The next 5 pints I had from the new barrel were lovely. Smooth and milky with good roasted malt, hint of smoke and burntness and a very low hoping rate. Missing any chocolate but hey, still a great pint.
AndrewGood09 Apr 2007 Fresh with some coffee flavours and some sharp hops.
AndrewExceptional17 Jan 2007 As she poured it I could smell chocolate from 2 feet away. It tasted of creamy milk chocolate with a lovely subtle burnt malt bitterness on the finish. This was top class Goacher's Mild. I love this beer.
AndrewUndrinkable04 Mar 2006 Vinegar with a hint of goacher's mild. I should have taken it back really but I didn't, I just left it.
AndrewExcellent20 Jan 2006 Good deep bitterness with lots of burnt coffee but no rich chocolate which was a shame
AndrewExceptional25 Oct 2005 Exactly the right combination of milky smoothness and hops. I know many will disagree but they're wrong... this is the best beer in the world :)
AndrewExceptional10 Apr 2005 Fantastic. Real burnt malt and chocolate just the way I like it
AndrewExcellent12 Mar 2005 Top of the barrel I would guess. Nice and hoppy with a definte chocolate after taste

Kent Beer Festival 2007, Canterbury, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
AndrewGood21 Jul 2007 Better condition than on Thursday night. Fresh and creamy with coffee on the finish
AndrewGood19 Jul 2007 An odd one. Bit of fish and a bit of smoakyness. Not really like Goachers' mild at all.

Crabble Corn Mill Beer Festival 2007, Dover, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
AndrewGood26 May 2007 Good dark hue with wide partial head. Smelt of toasted malt with a hint of choloclate. Not much going on in the front of the mouth but a big heavily toasted malt and earthy hop finish
IanGood25 May 2007 Lots of chocolate on this and I thought very good.

Cock Inn, Luddesdown, Kent

AndrewAcceptable16 Dec 2006 My favourite beer. Smelt of coffee with a bit of chocolate and a soft mouth feel. The finish was bitter coffee. Something about it made it feel slightly sickly though.

AndrewExcellent22 Jul 2006 Bitter coffee, hints of chocolate. This is the best Goacher's mild I've had at a beer festival

Butchers Arms, Herne, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
AndrewExceptional01 Jul 2006 Some of the best Goacher's mild I've had. I noticed that he poured it from a 32pint barrel so I'm guessing this was a week or so old. Anyway, it smelt of chocolate and tasted of chocolate and coffee with a strong bitter finish. Great
IanNot Tried27 Jun 2006
AndrewGood12 May 2006 Now my problem with scoring Goacher's Mild is that it's my favourite beer and I've had it when it's on top-form so I know exactly what it can taste like. However, I fully recognise it can't always taste fantastic. Anyway, this was good. Lots of coffee and a bitter sweet finish.

Goachers Real Mild Ale

3.40% ABV.

A mild tasting of chocolate, malt and hops. Mmmm... I'm being a bit biased here but this could possibly be the best beer in the world.

We have tried this beer 188 times.

We have given this beer an average score of Good to Excellent.
